Dutch media outlet Soccer News covered a sensational story yesterday, the information they relayed from Turkish press. We covered the story as well; the summary is – Turkish club Fenerbahce want to sign Robin van Persie. I wrote this yesterday:
“Dutch media outlet Soccer News relay information from Turkish daily Fanatic and claim that Fenerbahce want the 31-year-old striker who reportedly earnsaround £250k-a-week at Old Trafford.
Initial negotiation has started (as per the report) while former Liverpool player Dirk Kuyt could play a pivotal in enticing his fellow compatriot to join him in Turkey.”
Soccer News today has an update on this story. They once again relay information from Fanatik and claim these alleged interest for the Dutch striker is “more than just a rumour”. Turkish press confirm that the club has already been in contact with the Manchester United striker.
Fenerbahce want to pursue their interest seriously and would be looking to land the 31-year-old as early in the January transfer window, but they are willing to wait until the end of the season.
Fanatik claim that the Dutch club have been told to keep patience because Van Persie is fully focussed with United at the moment, but they do not say that any possible transfer is out of the question.
Soccer News writes that although in England there is a feeling that Manchester United are not interested in selling Van Persie but keeping his physical condition in mind, plus the arrival of Radamel Falcao, any potential move might be on the cards.
Let’s not go too deep into the story. The Turkish club might be interested in Van Persie, doesn’t necessarily mean United are going to sell him. Watch out this space, we will keep you updated here.
