Manchester United set to bid finally for long term transfer target

Manchester United, having missed out on two major right-back targets, Nathaniel Clyne, who is poised to join Liverpool, and Dani Alves, who signed a new contract with Barcelona, have turned their attention towards Everton defender Seamus Coleman.

Right-back is one area where United desperately need quality additions this summer. Rafael da Silva has failed to impress Van Gaal, as a result Antonio Valencia has been forced to play in that position last season. The Equador international did a decent job there playing as a wing-back, but he surely cannot be a long term solution for the club.

According to reports from ESPN, United are ready to make a formal move for Coleman, a long term target for the Old Trafford club, who considered signing the Irishman during the January transfer window.

Coleman joined Everton in 2009 for a bargain fee £60,0000 from Sligo Rovers. He has established himself as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League in recent years and would be a terrific signing for the Red Devils.

The 26-year-old full back is defensibly solid but equally adventurous going forward. He has been a regular in the Everton side for the past three seasons, and signed a new contract last summer that will keep him at the club till  2019.

Everton are determined to keep hold of him, but the Merseyside club must be bracing for renewed interest from United. Recent reports suggest that Everton are keen to sign Manchester United winger Adnan Januzaj on a season long loan.
