The transfer saga involving Manchester United and Real Madrid is getting interesting with each passing day. Usually when Guardian’s Sid Lowe writes on a transfer situation, be rest assured, he knows what he is writing. Lowe is one of the most reputed journalists in Spain and today in his personal column for the Guardian has claimed that Sergio Ramos wants has told Real Madrid that he wants to leave the club.

Ramos held a meeting with Madrid’s chief executive José Ángel Sánchez at the Valdebebas training ground today morning confirming his intention to leave. The defender was told that the club would listen to offers. The 29 year old however has a €180m (£128m) buyout clause.

Just yesterday we had quoted Spanish media outlet AS who cited that Manchester United will offer €30m plus David De Gea for Ramos. The Red Devils are also willing to double Ramos’ wage (€12m) more than what he’s asking for (€10m) at the Spanish capital.

Social Madrid, a reliable Twitter handle among Real Madrid fans also tweeted some time ago Ramos and the club representatives had a meeting but they are still very far apart.

In fact, club President Florentino Perez also refused to comment on the player’s situation.

Usually, its well known that silence can be deafening than a thousand words spoken. So are Madrid considering to do the unthinkable? Selling Ramos would certainly mean depleting their defensive options which will surely force new manager Rafa Benitez sign a suitable replacement.

Ramos’ current contract with Real expires in 2017 but Madrid’s willingness to entertain offers certainly shows that the Bernabeu side wouldn’t mind selling their prized asset if conditions are right
