Lucas SilvaManchester United’s hope of signing Cruzeiro midfielder Lucas Silva has been further boosted after the player admitted that he would leave his native club in Brazil to play in Europe.

The Daily Mail earlier reported that 20-time English champions are chasing the Brazilian midfielder, who is believed to be one of the most talented players in South America. Now the 21-year-old has dropped a major hint that he could leave his current employers before in this summer transfer window.

“I have the dream of playing in Europe, but I don’t want to leave Cruzeiro the wrong way,” Sky Sports quoted Silva as saying.

“I was developed by Cruzeiro. If it’s not something good for me or Cruzeiro, it won’t be bad to stay here.”

“My agents make me aware when there is something, when some teams talk or make contact.

“They assure me they handle this and that I have to worry about what happens on the pitch. I have to do my work well at Cruzeiro so people will still talk about me outside Brazil,” he added.

According to Sky Sports, Silva is valued to be around €10m and Louis van Gaal could sanction the money in bringing the midfielder to Old Trafford before the deadline day.

Meanwhile, Silva’s agent Luis Rocha has also confirmed interest from the Red Devils – but admitted there has been no official contact.

“There are not many details that I can tell you, but I can confirm that I was approached by people linked to Manchester United. We are now just waiting for the official proposal,” Rocha told Super Esportes.
