Manchester United target Sami Khedira will be offered a new contract at Real Madrid when he recovers from injury.
The Germany international has been sidelined with a knee injury since November, and according to a report by talkSPORT, the 26 year-old is set to receive medical clearance before the end of the month, enabling a much anticipated return to first team football.
Real are intent on diffusing speculation regarding the midfielder’s future at the Santiago Bernabeu with Fiorentina and Manchester United keen to acquire his services.
United boss David Moyes has previously expressed his desire to strengthen in central midfielder, with reports claiming genuine interest in Sporting’s William Carvalho and Bayern Munich maestro Toni Kroos.
United have held discussions regarding Carvalho but are not willing to pay anywhere near the £37m buy-out clause in the 21 year-old’s contract while Kroos confessed the possibility of a Premier League move in February. Their aspirations of signing unsettled Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan accelerated following the announcing of Barcelona’s two year transfer ban, omitting a challenge from the Blaugrana for Gundogan’s signature.
Moyes is keen to assert his authority on the club with an overhaul of personnel after a faltering campaign and will be handed £200m to spend.
