There are sagas, transfer sagas and then there is the Arturo Vidal to Manchester United transfer story. Readers of Soccerlens would very well know that we could have made a book out of the transfer stories that we had reported on Vidal in the past summer. None of the Italin, Chilean or English media outlets could get the story correct. However, what stood out was the constant reports from Chile.
And we have another one for our readers today. Le Tercera have now claimed that it was Vidal’s niggling knee problem that proved to be a stumbling block between a move from Turin to Old Trafford. Vidal is thought to be valued at €45m by the Italian giants.
Juventus’ Sporting director Giuseppe Marotta has also confirmed the claims while speaking to the trusted and reliable Italian outlet TMW. Marotta said, “The injury affected his departure and even now he still is not in the best physical shape. Anything, from our side, we were always clear that our wish was for him to stay because we have just renewed his contract.”
Vidal had signed a new deal with the Bianconeri on December, 2013 which will keep him at the Old Lady till 2017. The Chilean has an annual contract of $ 7.4 million, plus a bonus of $900,000 if it comes to play 25 or more games in a season.
However, it appears that United might still pursue their interest in the midfielder in the near future.
