Manchester United are stepping an interest in Norwegian youngster Martin Odegaard, who is a boyhood Liverpool supporter.
Mark Ogden of The Daily Telegraph writes that United scouted the 15-year-old on his international debut on Wednesday night.
The youngster has become Norway’s youngest-ever player by winning his first cap against the United Arab Emirates in Stavanger at the age of just 15 years and 253 days.
United have sent senior scouts to keep a close eye on the youngster, and the player is likely to be watched again at Wembley where his abilities against a strong opposition will be scrutinised.
“It’s incredibly huge to realise the dream that I’ve had since I was very, very small,” Odegaard said after the match. “I didn’t think I’d start at all, so to play ninety minutes is good.”
The youngster’s fanship allegiance to Liverpool could prove to be an obstacle, but most importantly United are expected to face competitions Barcelona and Juventus, who have maintained regular interest in the youngster since his emergence with Stromsgodset.
