Radamel Falcao, one of Manchester United’s big name summer signings ices his knee after every training session to prevent further damage.
The Colombian striker suffered a serious anterior cruciate damage whilst playing for AS Monaco back in January. The injury kept Falcao out of the South American side’s impressive performance at this summer’s World Cup.
Manchester United took a gamble on the 28-year old on the final day of the summer transfer window when they agreed a one-year loan deal with the French Ligue 1 club, paying Monaco £6 million and the striker’s £190,000-a-week wages.
The Guardian has reported about Falcao’s icing situation, whilst the club posted this photo of Falcao holding an ice pack to his knee in the changing room, alongside teammates:
Radamel Falcao has not look sharp in his first five games for Manchester United since returning from his eight month long injury. The former FC Porto and Atlético Madrid hitman has scored for fun for his three previous clubs but only has one Premier League goal so far.
Louis van Gaal’s side actually have an agreement in place to buy Falcao for £46.5 million at the end of the season. He will be 29-years old then which alone would be seen as a big gamble. With his knee injury seemingly not going away, it would perhaps be considered a foolish move were United to complete the deal on a permanent basis for such a high price.
However, Falcao took to Twitter to deny such reports. Reports from Colombia suggest that El Tigre has fully recovered from his hematoma injury for which he missed several games for Manchester United.
The Colombian press believe Falcao’s absence from the squad has nothing to do with injury problems, rather he was left out because of Louis van Gaal’s tactical decision.
