Manchester United star David De Gea has slammed the Spanish media after the reports in his homeland surfaced that goalkeeper’s relation with Louis van Gaal has been fractured.
Earlier reports suggested that the Spain international has not spoken to United manager for last few months, reported the Spanish newspaper AS. This comes as the 24-year-old’s contract situation is making headlines in England and in Spain.
De Gea’s contract at Old Trafford runs down after the end of the next season and has not committed his future to the Premier League giants. He has been constantly linked with a move to Real Madrid as the 10-times European champions keen on signing him.
However, United short stopper has claimed the recent suggestions reporting his relationship with Van Gaal as a lie. De Gea stressed that he is happy with his current employers after revealing that he is playing best football of his career with the Red Devils.
“Everything that has been written in the press about us not getting on is a lie. We both want the best for the club and the team, and the stories are complete lies,” De Gea told United’s official website.
“I think this is the best period of my career. I am playing the best football that I’ve ever played.”
“I’m really enjoying it at the moment and I’m just trying to improve with every training session and every game that goes by, giving 100 per cent and concentrating to the maximum. That’s the way I want to continue,” he stressed.
De Gea’s latest comments will come as a massive boost for United and their supporters, especially when it is down to his future at United. The Red Devils’ faithful will be hoping the goalkeeper commits his long term future to the Old Trafford faithful.
