3-5-2Manchester United have received a massive injury boost ahead of their weekend clash against West Ham United.

Louis van Gaal confirmed that midfielder Michael Carrick is the only player injured, which rules out injury concerns of star striker Robin van Persie and left-back Luke Shaw. The Dutch international rushed into the tunnel after being substituted during the FA Cup replay against Cambridge United earlier this week.

“Louis van Gaal tells #MUTV that only Michael Carrick is injured for Sunday’s trip to West Ham. #mufc,” United tweeted.

United are third in the league table while their upcoming opponents are sitting in eighth spot. The two teams are separated by seven points and the race to finish in top four this season is only going to get tougher as we get to the business end of the season.

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager has urged his players to show the display his side showed against Leicester City and Cambridge at Upton Park on Sunday,

“I said that at the beginning of the week before the game against Leicester City, that this is an important week and we have to win all three matches. After we beat Leicester we were third in the league. After that, we beat Cambridge and we are in the next round of the FA Cup,” Van Gaal told United’s official website.

“Now, we have to continue and all of the players know that it’s true, but it’s not so easy because we have to play away in London against West Ham and it was a tough game in Manchester. It shall not be easy, but we want to continue. We have to win in London.”
