In the latest Manchester United news, new signing Morgan Schneiderlin has claimed that he will do everything in his power to avoid the fate of his former teammates at Liverpool.
Southampton trio Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Dejan Lovren joined Liverpool in a 50 million pound transfer spree last summer. However, none of them managed to make any impact whatsoever.
With Lambert sold already after 12 months and Lovren not a popular name amongst the fans, Schneiderlin is keen to avoid a similar fate.
The French midfielder acknowledges the step up to Manchester United and says that he has prepared for this, all his career and is ready to show his worth.
: “All my life, I have been working for this moment to happen”, he said.
“In my life before, I could have moved but I was not physically ready when I was younger.
“With the experience I have behind me, it’s a good step up. There are new players, good players, a good club with a good structure. I can’t wait to show what I can do.
“I went to Southampton when they were in the Championship and the target was to get in the Premier League and we went down. That was the best thing to happen to me. I grew up with the club, at Southampton.
“I learnt a lot in my League One and Championship days and it was the best thing for me to grow with the club.
“Southampton toughened me up, physically and mentally. Going into League One could have made me sad or worried about my future. But I was surrounded by good people who made me understand how I have to get better, which part of my physicality I have to improve.
“I’m really grateful for that. I worked really hard on my fitness and the way I understand the game. Playing in League One against strong, physical players can only help.”
Schneiderlin is arguably one of the best defensive midfielders in the league and despite his mixed debut against Spurs, he broke up the play efficiently and kept his side in control.
If the Frenchman can work on his passing, he could well be one of the best signings for Manchester United this summer.
