“Yes because it is confirmation of what I am always saying, that transfers are a process. I had hope until the end… I am very happy that David De Gea stays because I believe he is one of the best goalkeeper sin the world. He has my best player last year, not only chosen by the fans but also by the players.”
There were a lot of reports suggesting senior players at the club were unhappy with the Dutchman’s philosophy. Van Gaal had this to say about the recent reports being published across the media.
He said, “I have a superb relationship with my players. Maybe you have to consider how many players are coming to the manager to say something. In my career as a manager, I didn’t have so many players who are coming to say something about the atmosphere in the dressing room, about the way we train, or something like that. It is very positive that players are coming to me. Then, you know they trust you.”
