According to reports in Italian daily Gazzetta Dello Sport, Manchester United are ready to offer €38m to Roma for Moroccan defender and Chelsea target Mehdi Benatia.

The report claims that the Red Devils have already spoken to the player’s agent Moussa Sissoko, finding negotiations worthwhile and are now preparing an enticing offer to acquire the signature of 27 year old centre back.

It is believed that Benatia is angry with the Roma management for not sorting out his contract and with each passing moment, it is becoming apparent that his future lies away from the Giallorossi. The capital club have also started looking for replacements in Vlad Chiricheș from Tottenham, Kostas Manolas from Olympiacos and Lille defender Marko Basa.

Rudi Garcia’s side are currently in Austria for their pre-season preparations where club captain Francesco Totti, along with star players Daniel De Rossi and Miralem Pjanic are trying to convince Benatia to extend his stay with the club for the coming season.

Chelsea are also keeping tabs on the current situation with manager Jose Mourinho interested in the player, who would ably replace David Luiz at Stamford Bridge.
