Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is looking to sign the Italian defender Leonardo Bonucci for Manchester United.
The Juventus centre back is a target for Antonio Conte, but it seems that the new Manchester United manager is ready to hijack Chelsea’s move for the defender.
Bonucci has been linked with a move to the Premier League ever since there were talks of Conte taking over at Chelsea. Apparently, the Italian national team manager wants a reunion with Bonucci.
Mourinho is already close to completing a deal for Villarreal defender Eric Bailly and wants Bonucci to partner him at the back. The Portuguese manager is ready to get rid of Daley Blind this summer.
It is highly unlikely that Juventus would let go of one of their best players and even if he leaves there will several Champions League clubs wanting to sign him. Manchester United and Chelsea cannot offer him Champions League football next season.
However, they somehow manage to pull it off, it would be an outstanding signing. Bonucci is one of the best defenders in Europe right now and has the experience and ability to lay the defensive foundations of a title winning side.
