Manchester United want to sign Lazio duo of Felipe Anderson and Stefan de Vrij as they look to bolster their attacking division.
According to Gianluca di Marzio, Louis van Gaal wants to land the midfielder and the central defender in the summer transfer window as United are crazy in signing these two players.. The latter scored 10 goals and managed seven assists in 32 league appearances last season.
Anderson can generally be confused to another Brazilian midfielder, who struggled to make a mark at United. However, the 22-year-old is a goal-scoring attacking midfielder and his form has seen him attract interest from the Premier League giants.
It should be seen where exactly will the midfielder fit into the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager’s system at United. The English club are also interested in Anderson’s compatriot Roberto Firmino, who plays for Hoffenheim.
Meanwhile, De Vrij has been exceptional in the heart of the Italian club’s back four. They managed to beat Napoli in the final game of the last season to secure a berth in the next season’s Champions League.
The defender played under Louis van Gaal for Netherlands during the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, where they finished third. He was instrumental alongside Aston Villa’s Ron Vlaar for their national team.
The Dutch international was linked with a move to Old Trafford last summer, while he was at Feyenoord. The deal did not materialise and he completed a switch to Lazio.
With United really interested in Anderson and De Vrij, Lazio will resist offers from Van Gaal’s side and turn down any approach for the Red Devils as they will be in the Champions League next season.
