Juventus are in talks with Manchester United over the prospect of signing Mexican striker Javier Hernández, according to reports.
Italian newspaper Tuttosport are reporting that Juventus are under pressure to sign a new striker before the close of the 2014 summer transfer window on Monday.
Since the end of last season the Bianconeri have lost strikers Dani Osvaldo (loan return to Southampton), Mirko Vučinić (Al Jazira) and Fabio Quagliarella (Torino). Currently on their books are Álvaro Morata, Carlos Tevez, Sebastian Giovinco and Fernando Llorente.
Morata is a new summer signing whilst Giovinco has not delivered over the past two seasons since a successful loan spell with Parma where much had been expected of him.
Javier Hernández is currently out-of-favour with fans at Manchester United and behind both Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie in the pecking order. The 26-year old striker has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford all summer.
The Italian newspaper reports that the Serie A champions want to take Hernández on a season-long loan from United with a view to buying him next summer.
Head coach Massimiliano Allegri wants a fifth striker before the window closes. Another striker linked to the Italian giants is Germán Denis (Atalanta), but it appears the Manchester United backup is their first choice.
Javier Hernández made 24 Premier League appearances last season, but only six of these were starts under David Moyes and Ryan Giggs. He only managed to find the net on four occasions. The diminutive striker has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford in recent seasons since a popular first season when he helped the record champions of England to their 19th league title in 2010-11.
