Manchester United will tour Asia this summer with several pre-season friendlies scheduled in China, Malaysia, Indonesia and Korea. The pre-season tour is United’s second in three years and is part of a concerted effort by the Premier League to tap into the massive Asian market (in essence, to create enough interest to get people to pay TV subscription license fees along with the usual official merchandise) and nicely leverages their status as World Club Champions.
Manchester United will be joined in their pre-season friendlies in Asia by Liverpool and Chelsea, where Chelsea are playing in the Barclays Asia Trophy and Liverpool are playing their 2nd Asian tour in 3 years.
Man Utd Asia Tour Schedule:
16th July – Manchester United leave for China.
??th July – Man Utd friendly in China, date and city to be confirmed
20th July – United play in Seoul, Korea
24th July – United play in Jakarta against a Indonesia Super League Select XI
26th July – United play in Kuala Lumpur against a Malaysia XI
Grueling tour with a lot of traveling involved but hopefully this will accomplish Manchester United’s and the Premier League’s targets – get United’s sizeable squad some leg time and enlarge / entrench the Premier League and Manchester United fanbase.
