Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho ahead of his potential transfer this summer, The Mirror reports.

The Red Devils were widely fancied to land his signature last summer, but they were put off by the £108 million price tag set by the Bundesliga outfit.

They have now revived their pursuit of the England international and are growing optimistic about signing him with contract terms already agreed.

A fee of around £81.5m could be sufficient for the deal. Dortmund want a big slice of the sum up front, but United are hoping to negotiate an instalment package.

Sportslens view:

United failed to negotiate the price for Sancho last year, but they could now sign him for less with his contract expiring in two years.

The Manchester City graduate is eager to join them after missing out on a transfer during the previous summer transfer window.

The club still need to finalise the payment terms with Dortmund and will need to act quickly with the reported interest from rivals Chelsea.

The Blues are aware of United’s long-term pursuit of Sancho but want to keep themselves in the conversation for the versatile attacker.

The European champions have the financial muscle to compete with United, having spent £225m on new signings last summer.

Sancho would provide United with an upgrade on the right wing, where they have lacked a consistent contributor of goals and assists.

He is coming off another top campaign for Dortmund, netting 16 goals alongside 20 assists from just 38 appearances in all competitions.
