Three years without a title and everybody is painting Manchester United in a crisis. No doubt, we have slipped up, but unlike 2004 when Arsenal went unbeaten, 2005 and 2006 were a whole new game with Chelsea raising the points level required to win the Premiership.
Now, it’s definitely not acceptable to be ‘good enough’ to beat the rest – the team must be able to perform, and win, consistently throughout the season.
The question on everyone’s mind is whether Manchester United have the squad and the right manager to help them topple Chelsea and beat off Arsenal and Liverpool for the title. My answer is a conditional yes, but that’s not good enough.
In this week, Soccerlens will be reviewing Manchester United’s squad, the manager and wrap up the week with a season preview and a match preview for our Sunday game against Fulham.
