Manchester City coach Roberto Mancini insists that he will not give up on signing Liverpool ace Fernando Torres, who has been heavily linked with a move away from Anfeild.
The World Cup winner has been heavily linked with a move to Premier League powerhouses Manchester City and Chelsea, and Torres is frustrated with the Reds’ disappointing performance last season.
Although the Spaniard has not officially said that he wished to leave the Merseysiders, Roberto Mancini has not gave up and is keen on bringing the former Athletico Madrid star to Manchester.
Mancini told The Mirror:
“There are two or three strikers that we could go for.”
“But it’s the same situation as it is with Milner. First there is the price, then it depends if the player wants to change teams. Up until now, Liverpool haven’t bought many players.”
“The choices that we have are between four or five fantastic players.”
“Torres is one of the best strikers in Europe and has been playing in the Premier League for three years now, so he knows it very well.”
“But it all depends on his situation, his price and whether he wants to come.”
Torres is currently in a fight against fitness after he picked up a groin injury during the World Cup final and will be hoping he will be fit come the start of the season.
