Manchester City have ordered goalkeeper Joe Hart to return for pre-season training with the club.

Hart has served as the first-choice goalkeeper of the Citizens for the better part of the past decade.

However, he was deemed surplus to requirements at the club in 2016 upon the arrival of Pep Guardiola as manager.

His career has also undergone a downward spiral since then.

He had an underwhelming loan spell with Torino in Italy during the 2016-17 season before spending last term with West Ham.

His below-par performances for the Hammers resulted in him not being included in England’s 23-man squad which is playing in the World Cup.

The 31-year-old has just one more year remaining on his contract at the Etihad Stadium and it is widely expected that he will be moved on this summer.

He really needs to move on this summer if he wants to stand a chance of rebuilding his career.

Hart’s international career may also be over considering that their are younger keepers who are in better form such as Jordan Pickford, Nick Pope and Jack Butland who are all above him in the pecking order.

With this being said, he could also consider a move to the less demanding MLS or Chinese Super League.
