Manchester City’s big-money move for Inter Milan striker Mario Balotelli appears to have hit a few snags for the time being, but the two sides are set to resume talks in the coming days, according to the Guardian.
One of the hurdles to overcome is the 19-year-old’s wage demands. Balotelli is looking for £180k per week, which would make him one of the City’s highest earners. That’s a figure that the club is unwilling to meet, and thus far, they haven’t been able to meet in the middle with Balotelli’s agent, Mino Raiola.
There’s also another obstacle to deal with between the two clubs, as City and Inter are at odds over the add-ons in the transfer fee.
If those loose ends can be tied up, Balotelli’s signing would push City’s summer spending over the 100m mark for the second consecutive summer, and a deal could yet be struck with Aston Villa over midfielder James Milner, with the Telegraph saying that City could be set to sweeten their offer for Milner by adding some of their surplus stars into their cash offer.
