Manchester City made a strong start to the month of December after earning a 4-1 victory over Hull City in the Capital One Cup quarterfinal on Tuesday.
The focus now shifts back to the Premier League, where the Citizens will be looking to preserve their lead at the top during the busy festive period.
Out of three Premier League games played last month, City have won once, losing one and drawing another. Luckily for them, Arsenal and Manchester United couldn’t capitalise on their slip-ups.

An away trip to Britannia is generally perceived as a tough fixture, but Stoke City have been awfully poor at home this season, having picked up only 7 points from 6 games at home this season.
City have already qualified for the knock out phases in the Champions League, but they will be looking to top their group in order to get an (relatively) easy opponent in the Round of 16.
In the round 17 of the Barclays Premier League, Manchester City face Swansea at home, which should be an easy three-pointer for Manuel Pellegrini’s side. The Swans are going through a wretched form at the moment, having won only once in their last 11 matches in all competitions.
The following week, City travel to North London to face Arsenal, a game that holds paramount importance in deciding who would go to the top of the table before Christmas. City’s form away from home hasn’t been great compared to other teams in the top four, although same can be said about Arsenal’s home form.
City end the month of December with an away trip to Leicester, who have lost only once in the league. The fixture could get very interesting if Leicester continue their impressive run in the league, and stay in the title hunt around the festive period.
