Manchester United players are thought to be unhappy under the tutelage of Louis Van Gaal. The Dutchman’s strict regime and abrasive methods have not gone down well amongst the players, who are looking for a change.

Apparently Louis Van Gaal’s strict training regime and code of conduct has angered several senior figures in the Manchester United dressing room, who preferred a more liberal and expressive atmosphere under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Players like Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick in particular are prepared to speak to the manager in order to address the issue.

Players like Di Maria, De Gea, Valdes have had problems working with Van Gaal and his staff.

The players are specially unhappy about the prominent role of Video analyst Max Reckers who is in charge of match-day preparations and underlines the game plan after analysing the opposition.

Furthermore, David De Gea is thought to be uncomfortable working with Frans Hoek, the goalkeeper coach. The Spaniard had a great working relationship with previous coaches, Steel and Woods.

The dressing room has also been angered by Van Gaal’s treatment of Rafael. The former United right back was sold this summer. The players believe that a long serving member like Rafael should have been treated with more respect.

It is understood that the Spanish contingent at United are skeptical about Van Gaal’s methods.

With another North-West derby around the corner, it will be interesting to see if Van Gaal can motivate his unhappy players. A poor result against Liverpool could attract a lot more criticism towards the controversial Dutchman, whose methods have been questioned everywhere he has coached.
