Mamadou Sakho could face an internal disciplinary action after he walked out of Anfield before Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Everton on Saturday.

Reds manager Brendan Rodgers will wait to hear Sakho’s reasons for walking out of Anfield that breaks the club protocol.

Dejan Lovren and Martin Skrtel were used in central defence against Everton while Kolo Toure was kept as cover on the bench.

Having failed to secure a place in the squad in such a high profile game only suggest that he is struggling to convince his manager of his worth. Furthermore, his decision to not support his team-mates puts a question mark on his attitude and commitment that will hardly have helped his cause.

Sakho later admitted via his Twitter account to show contrition for his actions, but may still face an internal disciplinary action.

“I really want to apologise to the club, the supporters and every person who felt offended when I left the stadium,” he tweeted.

Rodgers will decide whether Sakho’s actions are worthy of punishment; his future is already in doubt after such demotion.

Liverpool now turn their attention to the Champions League tie away to Basle, where Daniel Sturridge is unlikely to involve again, after he failed to recover from a hamstring injury in time against Everton.
