Nice v Lyon
Ligue Un
Saturday 24 October 2009
Kick-off: 18:00 BST

Nice Preview

Nice are second from bottom in Ligue 1 after gaining just eight points from nine games. A 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Lorient last weekend will be preying on their minds as they host Lyon, and manager Didier Olle Nicolle will know he has to turn things around at the club quickly.

Nice had Emerse Fae red carded late in the game against Lorient and as a result the Ivory Coast midfielder will thus miss the game against Lyon.

It’s a tall order for Nice to beat Lyon at the best of times and with morale down and Lyon coming off an important win, it’s become even tougher.

Lyon Preview

Lyon lost to Sochaux last weekend in their first defeat this season but still lead the league table on goal difference. More relevant Lyon would be their smash and grab 2-1 win away to Liverpool midweek, condemning the Premier League team to their fourth consecutive defeat and virtually assuring progress to the next round of the Champions League.

Lyon will be gunning for their seventh win of the season against Nice but will have to account for injuries to certain key players. What will be reassuring for them is that Nice has grossly underperformed this season and in away games right after a midweek Champions League game, Lyon couldn’t have asked for an easier team to beat.

Nice v Lyon Prediction

Lyon are still prone to the odd wobble but they should be able to close this game relatively easily.

Prediction: Nice 1-2 Lyon
