Louis van Gaal officially took over as Manchester United manager and the Dutchman has decided not to waste any time in bringing immediate changes at the club.
The 62-year-old manager ended his international duty with the Netherlands, after guiding his national side to a third place finish in the 2014 FIFA World Cup. After taking over the Old Trafford role, Van Gaal informed the club officials their training pitches has to be relayed.
According to the Guardian report, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager has instructed the Red Devils’ chiefs that the training pitches must be ripped up. Van Gaal wants the current pitches to be replaced by Desso.
A Desso is a surface composed of natural grass combined with artificial fibres. The artificial grass fibres are injected 20 centimetres (7.9 in) deep, and cover about 3% of the surface. While the grass is growing, the roots intertwine with the artificial fibres.
In addition to this, Van Gaal has suggested the current environment is windy and order the club to grow more tress to make it more sheltered from the wind. A report from the Independent claims United’s first foreign coach wants floodlights to be installed so that the team can train easily during the winter.
United are currently in the US preparing for their pre-season tour. Van Gaal wants the changes in the pitch before the completion of the US tour.
Not sure if all his demands mentioned will be met, but the Dutch boss is definitely showing who is the boss at United – something which was missing during the time of David Moyes last season. Sir Alex Ferguson was the authority while he was the manager, which saw the great elder of the Old Trafford help the Red Devils to success over the decades.
