The ongoing saga of Radamel Falcao has taken another dramatic turn, with the £50m man spotted attending a power meeting with Real Madrid and Manchester City chiefs in a Spanish restaurant in the early hours of Thursday.
The Monaco hitman has been perennially linked with a move to Chelsea, with Jose Mourinho constantly bemoaning the lack of quality at his disposal up top at Stamford Bridge this season.
But the Blues have seemingly been left out of the loop concerning the Colombian striker, with Spanish station Cuatro reporting that the player met his agent Jorge Mendes, Manchester City director Txiki Begiristain, Monaco owner Dmitr Rybolovlev, billionaire Peter Lim, and Real Madrid president Florentino Perez in the Spanish capital on Thursday morning.
This stunning meeting could be the start of a huge transfer window for the clubs represented, with rumours starting to circulate concerning a number of high profile moves as a result of Thursday’s restauraunt visit.
One such scenario could see Argentine striker Sergio Aguero ending up at Real Madrid, with Falcao going to City, and Angel Di Maria completing the chain by moving to Monaco!
Falcao, the man at the centre of it all, joined Ligue 1 side Monaco from Atletico Madrid for a fee of £50m last year, and scored nine goals in 19 league appearances, before ligament damage ended his season prematurely, putting his World Cup aspirations in doubt.
Jose Mourinho hinted at a summer move for the striker earlier on in the season in a controversial ‘interview’ with French TV station Canal +,
“I have a team but no striker. And a player like Falcao can’t play in front of 3,000 people. Monaco is a club to end [your career with],” Mourinho said.
Falcao earlier refused to comment on speculation linking him with a summer move to Real Madrid, but this latest twist will see the rumour mill go through the gears quite rapidly.
