Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo is closing in on completing his loan move to Wigan Athletic before the transfer window shuts on Monday.
The 17-year-old was signed by the Merseyside club from MK Dons in 2011 and is yet to make a first team debut. Brendan Rodgers was impressed with the England youth international’s progress and included him in the squad for the clash against Burnley and Leicester City, where he was an unused substitute.
The Liverpool Echo reports Anfield outfit believes it will be hard for Ojo to get regular playing time at Liverpool, which has seen them allow the teenager join the Championship Club for the remainder of the season.
Liverpool Under-21s manager Michael Beale has revealed that several clubs are interested in taking Ojo on loan. However, Beale admitted that the Reds are weighing in the best option for the winger so that he can return to Anfield as a better player after getting more playing time under his belt.
“There’s a lot of interest around him in terms of a loan,” Beale told the Liverpool Echo.
“We’ve got to make sure it’s the right thing for Sheyi and if he goes out that he’s going to play and if he’s not going to play, he’s got to get access – like Conor Randall at Shrewsbury – to come back and play for us.”
