Liverpool will entertain Crystal Palace on Saturday at Anfield looking to register back-to-back Premier League victories.

Sturridge and Suarez

The Reds got their season back on track following three games without a win by steamrolling bottom placed Sunderland 3-1 in the last match at the Stadium of Light. Rodgers will be hoping for a similar sort of result (and likewise an improvement in performance) when they take on Palace in the Match Day 7 of the Premier League.

Palace have won just one match out of their 6 games, losing 5 but manager Ian Holloway will enjoy returning to Merseyside. Last time, his team Blackpool comfortably outplayed the Liverpool team then managed by Roy Hodgson.

The Reds have made a strong start in the league and are occupying the 2nd position in the league table. A victory here will take them to the top, albeit temorarily, as Arsenal will face West Brom on Sunday at the Hawthorns.

Team News

Liverpool will miss the services of midfielder Lucas Leiva for this tie. The Brazilian has been suspended for this game after picking up five yellow cards in the season so far.

Philippe Coutinho, Glen Johnson, Aly Cissokho and Joe Allen are all injured and will miss the tie but Vice-captain Daniel Agger could return to the squad after sitting out of last Sunday’s win at Sunderland.

For Palace, Yannick Bolasie could make his first appearance of the season after recovering from a torn hamstring. Defender Damien Delaney should also be in the squad after shaking off an ankle knock.

Key Player

SAS combo – One of the bright positives Liverpool can draw along with the result against Sunderland is the combination of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge. Rodgers has deployed a 3-4-1-2 system to accommodate both Suarez and Sturridge together in the strike role. Both the strikers complemented each other perfectly and both bagged goals against the Black Cats.

Prediction: Liverpool 3-0 Crystal Palace
