Liverpool are looking to sign Argentine striker Lucas Alario in the summer. The Reds are reportedly in talks with Argentine club River Plater over a possible transfer.

According to reports from Infobae, Liverpool have already made an official approach to sign the 23-year-old striker. The Reds have had a £5.65m offer rejected, with the Argentine club looking to settle for a fee in the region of £9m.

The striker rose to prominence following his move to River Plater from Colon. He helped his club win the Copa Libertadores where he scored against Mexican side Tigres UANL. He also made a strong impression in the World Club Cup last December, where he scored the only goal as River defeated Sanfrecce Hiroshima 1-0 before going on to lose to Barcelona 3-0 in the final.

Liverpool have Daniel Sturridge, Danny Ings, Divock Origi and Christian Benteke in their ranks, but the later faces an uncertain future at the club and could be sold in the summer. Alario could be an ideal squad player for Jurgen Klopp’s side next summer.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich fear that Mario Gotze has set his heart on joining Liverpool next summer. The German believes that Jurgen Klopp could reignite his career that has stalled at Bayern Munich.

Gotze played his best football under klopp, and he is open to move to linking up again with his former boss.

Gotze is heading towards the final 12 months of his contract, but Bayern will try to recoup most of the £30m they paid Dortmund for the Germany international in 2013.
