Liverpool summer signing Divock Origi has revealed that he rejected a chance to join Tottenham Hotspur during the ongoing transfer window.

The 19-year-old was signed from Lille and the Belgium international will spend the 2014-15 season on-loan with the Ligue 1 outfit. Origi admitted that he had several offers from clubs across Europe.

However, the striker rejected a chance to join big clubs from Germany, Italy and Spain in order to ply his trade in the Premier League in the future. Origi says he decided to join Liverpool after he selected to join Brendan Rodgers’ side from his heart.

“I took a lot of time to sign because, suddenly, there were a lot of clubs interested in me,” Origi told The Daily Mirror.

“Big Spanish, Italian and German clubs wanted me but my dream was to play in the Premier League. I also went to Tottenham but of the clubs interested, I chose Liverpool.”

“The coach called me often, he invited me over, showed me a compilation of my matches since I was in the Under 15s and knew everything about me.”

“At the club, everyone knew me, from the person doing the video analysis to the chef. My father told me to choose with my heart and I chose Liverpool and I don’t regret it for a minute,” the Belgium attacker concluded.

Liverpool will face Tottenham in the upcoming league fixture this weekend. Should Origi had decided to join the North London club, he would have featured against the Merseyside club on Sunday.
