Liverpool are set to miss out on yet another potential target, Anzhi Makhachkala forward Lacina Traore, after Dinamo Moscow coach Dan Petrescu claimed that Ivory Coast international will join Serie A Champions Juventus, in January.
The Reds have had a long standing interest on the player and were linked with a move on many occasions, before he joined the Russian club last summer and again just ahead of the January Transfer window.
According to reports from Express, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has been monitoring the player’s progress in Russia.
However, with the Reds shifting their targets elsewhere and further snapping up Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas in the summer, the interest in Traore has somewhat cooled down. It is understood that Juventus are leading the chase for his signature, as Anzhi are looking to offload their biggest earners, in order to cope with the financial loss they’ve suffered recently.
Further, reports in Russia suggest that a deal in the region of £12m fee has already been agreed between Anzhi and the Turin club.
Petrescu, who worked with Traore before at Kuban Kasnodor has ruled out a January move for the player. He told Sport-express.ru: “I would love to but in January, Lacina will be a Juventus player.”
Anzhi have offloaded some of their star players already, with Cameroon international Samuel Eto’o joining Chelsea in the summer.
Liverpool have missed out on several potential targets this summer like Willian, Henrik Mkhitaryan and Diego Costa, and it seems like they’re going to miss out on yet another forward as well.
