After being unable to sign Loic Remy thanks to a failed medical, Liverpool have now set sights on Swansea’s goal machine Wilfried Bony. Italian website TMW has reported that German club Wolfsburg is also interested in the Ivorian apart from the significant interest from Tottenham. The German club’s interest is understandable after we had earlier reported that they missed out on Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata to Juventus despite having offered the player relatively higher wages compared to the Bianconeri. Moreover with Romelu Lukaku now having signed for Everton I would make Wolfsburg more desperate.

Swansea-Wilfried-Bony_2972610Earlier English tabloid Independent had claimed that Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins is almost resigned to the fact that Bony might move should a club offering the player Champions League football makes a move. Moreover Gary Monk’s recent statements also hint that the 25 year old might leave the Welsh outfit for an astronomical fee.  Monk however said a couple of days ago that he was 100% certain the striker would stay at Liberty Stadium for at least the next season.

Jenkis had earlier claimed, “If a top Champions League club comes in, and puts the right offer on the table, then of course we will speak to him. There are no issues with Bony. He’s a great guy to have around the club. As much as we want players to stay with us for a number of years, we have to be open.”

Verdict with price tag: There is no doubt that Swansea would play hardball with the Reds and would be reluctant to part with their prized asset. The Welsh outfit had bought Bony from Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem last summer for £12m and it is believed that Liverpool will have to pay at least in the range of £20m to make the player sign on the dotted lines at Merseyside.
