Remember last January? Flashback? Mohamed Salah transfer saga? Liverpool were on the verge of signing the Egyptian, then out-of-no-where Chelsea emerged and wrapped up the deal.
Can the role reversal happen? Can Liverpool do the same this time with Chelsea over the signing of highly rated Sevilla defender Alberto Moreno?
Last month, we reported Chelsea had lodged a £15m bid for the Spanish defender where Sevilla sporting director, Monchi admitted: “Impossible to say he’ll not leave the club on summer.”
And few days back, The Times reported, the Blues are “looking to raise cash to bring in” the Spanish defender, as the club is looking to find replacement of veteran Ashley Cole.
Now, Liverpool Echo reports that Liverpool have made Sevilla’s left-back as their top priority this summer.
Moreno has enjoyed a great season with Sevilla helping Sevilla winning Europa League triumph and securing his place in Spain’s 30-man provisional World Cup squad.
The 21-year-old is a rising star in Spain and manager Brendan Rodgers is a big admirer of his talents. Liverpool are also considering other left back options – Guilherme Siqueira and Ryan Bertrand.
