Chelsea have made the first move for the highly rated Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno, and have lodged a £15m bid to secure his signature in the summer.

Liverpool are thought to be interested in Moreno, who has a release clause of £25m, while reports also suggested that Manchester United have shown keen interest in him too, with ex-manager David Moyes sending scouts to watch him on a few occasions.

Spanish giants Real Madrid are also thought to be interested in the youngster with talkSPORT reporting in March that Carlo Ancelotti is looking to sign the left-back for £16m.

Chelsea are in need of a solid left-back as Jose Mourinho is searching for a long term replacement of Ashley Cole. They had initially targeted Southampton’s Luke Shaw but reports emerged yesterday that Manchester United have stolen the march on their rivals and have almost completed the deal.

The attention shifts elsewhere for the Blues with Sky Italia journalist Fabrizio Romano now reporting that Chelsea have lodged an official bid for Moreno, while Sevilla sporting director, Monchi admitted: “Impossible to say he’ll not leave the club on summer”

Romano added in his following tweet that although Liverpool are interested in him, the Reds are yet to lodge any official bid for the Sevilla left-back.

Liverpool are also looking at other options, and are plotting a move for Sporting’s Argentine left-back Marcos Rojo.
