Liverpool are plotting a move for Kostas Mitroglou and are preparing a bid of £7m for the Greek goal-machine, who has already scored four hat-tricks this season.
According to reports in English press, Liverpool are targeting the 25-year-old who has bagged 14 goals in 10 league games this season for Olympiakos. Further, he has scored six in his last seven games for his country.
It has been reported that Reds manager Brendan Rodgers had sent scouts to watch the striker against Romania during the international break. Mitroglou didn’t disappoint as he scored in both the legs, taking his country all the way to the World Cup.
However, the report says the Reds are targeting him to replace club talisman Luis Suarez, which is hard to digest at the moment. Suarez has been one of the top performers for the Reds this season, and Liverpool will do everything to keep their star man. He is pivotal to Reds’ ambition of finishing in top four. The situation could change next season, should Liverpool fail to qualify in the Champions League.
Reports in Portugal press suggest that Manchester United scouts were observing Benfica defender Ezequiel Garay once again. The highly rated defender was a summer target of Manchester United but the deal never materialized.
Garay himself has claimed that he was due to join the Red Devils in the summer for a reported fee of £18m but new manager David Moyes had blocked the deal. However, in early November, both the Portuguese newspaper O Jogo and A Bola claimed that Man United are still interested in the defender.
And now, according to Le 10 sport, United will make an offer in January for the defender, as the Red Devils wish to strengthen their defensive unit.
