Liverpool are interested in FC Basel forward Mohamed Salah, who caught the eye balls of scouts of top clubs yet again, following his brilliant performance against Chelsea in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The 21-year-old is one of the hot prospects of Europe and Brendan Rodgers, manager of Liverpool wants to bring him in January to carry forward his rebuilding project at Anfield smoothly. Fans will remember that Liverpool benefitted from an excellent January transfer window last season and Rodgers will be expecting to add few quality players as well this winter.

The Egypt international was about to leave Switzerland over the summer but the lure of Champions League convinced him to stay. Following the departure of Xherdan Shaqiri to Bayern Munich, he has become the key player for Basel and has similar traits to France winger Franck Ribery.

Salah is a typical false winger. The only time he hugs the touchline is when his name appears on the team sheet. He has the guile, skill and intelligence to find pockets of space to roam about, pick passes and get into good goal scoring areas.

The youngster has a contract till 2016 and has a market value of €8.5m. Premier League outfit Tottenham are also interested in him, but a move in January is highly unlikely, as the player wants to join a club that can guarantee Champions League football.

Over to Manchester United and we have reports that Red Devils are interested in buying Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria in January.

Angel di Maria

Manchester United are in search of a quality midfielder/winger as David Moyes wants to amend the mistakes he made in the summer transfer window, by buying quality players to bolster his squad.

Di Maria’s future was speculated in the summer when Gareth Bale was about to join Real Madrid from Tottenham. But, following the departure of Mesut Ozil, he has become one of the regulars of Santiago Bernabeu this season under coach Carlo Ancelotti.

However, interesting to note is – none of Madrid based papers, has covered the story. Rather, the story has been reported in Catalan based newspapers – Sport and Mundo Deportivo – on two occasions recently. We all know how they love to shake things up for their rival clubs. Di Maria has a buyout clause of €50m and has a contract until 2018.
