Liverpool have been given hope in the chase for highly rated Spanish left back Alberto Moreno, after the player’s representative insisted that there has been no interest from Real Madrid as of now.
The 21-year-old full back from Sevilla has reportedly caught the attention of Los Blancos, with reports in Spanish newspapers claiming that the player has told his Sevilla teammates that he would be joining the La Liga leaders at the end of the season.
However, the Daily Mirror have claimed that Liverpool still retain hope of signing Moreno, as Madrid could be looking to lure high profile names in the summer.
Moreno’s agent says that Sevilla are willing to negotiate but are unlikely to sell him without meeting the player’s release clause.
Agent Javier Moya told AS: “Yes, Napoli presented an offer in January, but it was not seen as big enough. The interest of Real Madrid? Nothing has been done and my client is concentrating on Sevilla.
“Sevilla are willing to negotiate, but on their conditions. I’m not saying he can only leave there for his £25m release clause fee.”
Liverpool are in need of a left-back and it will be interesting to see whether they go for Moreno in the summer or not. Liverpool are almost certain to qualify for Champions League next season, with the ensuing cash injection to be a big help for Rodgers in the impending summer transfer window.
