Liverpool need to invest in at least departments, either in winter or next summer and one of them is the position of defensive midfield.
Lucas Leiva has been below par this season which has forced Brendan Rodgers to introduce Steven Gerrard as a defensive holding midfielder against Stoke City.
According to reports from talksport, Liverpool are showing interest in Napoli’s highly rated defensive midfielder Gokhan Inler.
The 29-year-old was a target of Liverpool few years back, when then manager Roy Hodgson was in charge and wanted to sign him. It is now understood that Rodgers ready to rekindle the club’s interest.
The report says that Rodgers is a big fan of Inler and may launch a bid for him. Inler, however has been ever-present for Rafael Benitez’ side this season. The Swiss defensive midfielder has made 16 league start this season, and has bagged a goal to his name as well. It is highly unlikely that Napoli would accept any offer for him, unless that is too good to refuse.
In other reports, Liverpool could miss out on Rubin Kazan midfielder Yann M’Villa. The Reds were thought to be interested in the 23-year-old Frenchman with The Metro reporting the player wants a move to the Premier League.
Rubin today answered to Napoli and Liverpool they don’t want to sell M’Vila on loan, pretending 12/13M€. No official bid, right now #LFC

However, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported last night that Liverpool and Napoli are told that the midfielder won’t be available on loan and that any interested club will have to pay a handsome fee for his signature.
