Liverpool have confirmed they have agreed a deal to sign Burnley striker Danny Ings on Monday.
The 22-year-old’s contract will expire on 30 June and has already turned down a chance to sign a new deal. He was linked with a move to the Reds’ league rivals Manchester United, while Tottenham Hotspur were also interested in signing him.
However, the Englishman snubbed a chance to join either of the clubs and will join Brendan Rodgers’ side.
A statement on Liverpool’s official website read, “Liverpool FC are delighted to announce that they have agreed personal terms with Danny Ings and, subject to a medical, the striker will join the club on July 1 after his contract with Burnley has expired.”

Ings has been in brilliant form for Burnley as he scored 11 goals in 35 league appearances during the 2014/15 season. Despite his impressive display, he could not help his side avoid relegation to the Championship.
With Liverpool’s latest acquisition, Rodgers will now have the services of Daniel Sturridge, Ings, Mario Balotelli as the recognised strikers in the squad, along with Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini.
The latter two’s future at Anfield remains uncertain as Ings’ arrival could force Rodgers to let the two attackers leave the club in the summer transfer window.
Earlier this month, the Merseyside club agreed a deal to sign Manchester City midfielder James Milner, whose contract is also set to expire at the end of this month. The Reds have completed two signings and both of them are on free transfers.
