Liverpool are confident of keeping hold of talisman striker Luis Suarez in the summer, despite the strong indication that Real Madrid are set to make a formal move for him. And from our past experience, we know, when Madrid come calling, most of the time, they don’t return empty handed.

The Los Blancos have earmarked Luis Suarez to be their next Galactico, and value the Uruguayan at about £70m. Madrid tried to lure Suarez 18 months before, and made an attempt to sign him last summer as well, but later shifted all their energy in signing Gareth Bale from Tottenham Hotspur.

Spanish newspaper Marca reports that Madrid have already taken the decision to sign Suarez, with coach Carlo Ancelotti gave president Florentino Perez the full support to launch a bid for Suarez, after getting the assurance that striker Karim Benzema will not be sold.

However, The Times writer Tony Barrett reports that Liverpool camp is confident that Suarez, who signed a long term contract December that made him the best-paid player in the club’s history, will reaffirm his commitment once again. The Uruguayan has told his friends that he is happy at the Merseyside club and is not seeking for a move.

Recently, Suarez’s solicitor, Alejandro Balbi, claimed that his client would find it difficult to say no to Real Madrid, should they lodge a formal bid.

However, as it stands, Liverpool are concerned over Suarez at this moment, instead managing director Ian Ayre has been given a fresh contract for his services in persuading the Uruguayan in committing his future at the Anfield club.
