Leicester City are confident Riyad Mahrez will not be following N’Golo Kante out of the exit door.
Mahrez was one of last season’s standout players for Leicester, scoring 17 goals to help the Foxes win a miraculous Premier League title.
The 25-year-old has three years left on his present deal. He has been offered a new contract extension that will see him earn up to £100,000 a week. Despite a reported interest from Chelsea and other Premier League clubs, Mahrez hasn’t given any indication that he will not sign a new deal with the Foxes.
Mahrez does not have a release clause written on his contract which means Leicester can demand any fee for the Algeria winger. The Foxes are refusing to put any price tag on Mahrez but according to reports from The Telegraph, the club are ready to demand a fee of more than £45 million for their star player. The Premier League champions believe his market value should be determined by the £49m Manchester City paid for Raheem Sterling last summer.
Leicester have lost N’Golo Kante to Chelsea but manager Claudio Ranieri is hoping that Mahrez will follow the footsteps of Jamie Vardy, who has signed a new £100,000 a week deal after rejecting the chance to join Arsenal this summer.
