Leeds United have been linked with a move for Real Madrid defender Miguel Gutierrez.
The highly-rated youngster is expected to be a part of Zinedine Zidane’s first-team plans next season but El Espanol are reporting that Leeds are interested in signing him.
The former Getafe youngster made his Madrid debut off the bench at Cadiz last month, before making substitute appearances in the closing stages of La Liga fixtures against Osasuna and Sevilla.
The young defender needs regular action to continue his development and may not get those opportunities with Madrid.
Gutierrez would be competing with Ferland Mendy and Marcelo for a starting berth and a loan move away from Madrid could be ideal for him next season.
Working with a top-class coach like Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds could help him improve his game.
Young players like Pascal Struijk and Kalvin Phillips have excelled under Bielsa and the Argentine manager could have a similar impact on Gutierrez.
Leeds need to strengthen their defensive options and the 19-year-old would be an inexpensive addition to the squad.
With Madrid unlikely to sell him permanently, a loan deal would be ideal for all parties and Leeds will be eager to seal a deal this summer.
