The representative of Lautaro Martinez has said that the Inter Milan striker has a ‘very big chance’ of joining Barcelona when the transfer window reopens later in the year.

The Argentina international is currently in his second season with the Nerazzurri where he has impressed with 17 goals and four assists across all competitions.

Speaking to Fox Sports Mexico, agent Sergio Zarate was asked about the possibility of Martinez heading to the Camp Nou and he happened to admit that there is a ‘very big chance’ of that being the case.

“There’s a very big chance Lautaro goes to Barca. He is a fantastic player. Tremendous, he has no ceiling,” he told.

Meanwhile, Sergio was quizzed whether Martinez would consider a move to Real Madrid instead, to which he replied that the forward may have the preference of playing alongside compatriot and Blaugrana star Lionel Messi.

“You know that it’s them who will have their say. The one who decides is the player. With Leo there, I believe there is a bigger chance that he will want to go to the side of the greatest of them all (Messi),” he added.

Martinez has been identified by the Catalan giants as a long-term successor to Luis Suarez, who has been struggling with knee injury concerns over the past 18 months.

Both Messi and Suarez have talked up the prospect of Martinez joining the club in the future but ultimately, a summer move may depend on whether the Spanish champions can strike an agreement with the Nerazzurri.

The Serie A outfit are presently holding out for the player’s £102m release clause and it remains to be seen whether Quique Setien’s side can meet the price amid the ongoing crisis due to the coronavirus pandemic.
