Italian powerhouse Juventus have once again insisted that their star goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon is not up for sale. This comes as rumours of Premier League club Manchester City gunning to sign the Italian international custodian pick up pace.
Sporting director Alessio Secco has told Turin-based sports paper Tuttosport that Buffon is not going to Juventus. Of course this is what Juve have been telling ever since rumours of Man City launching a huge offer for who is regarded by many as the best goalkeeper in the world reached the surface.
Secco said, “I will repeat what [Giovanni] Cobolli Gigli and [Jean Claude] Blanc said over the last few days, our Gigi is not for sale.”
Well, such quotes wouldn’t really stop rumours from floating themselves. Man City have been linked with a number of top draw players based in Europe, such as Kaka, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. But well, it is understandable that players like these would rather play for a true European giant rather than for a club that is blessed with just plenty of cash. History and reputation do matter.
