Serie A giants, Juventus, are preparing an audacious swap deal involving Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez and Miralem Pjanic. Sanchez, who earns £130k-per-week, has still one year left on his contract, but the Chilean forward is yet to agree to a new deal at Arsenal. His future has come under intense speculation in the media, with several heavyweight clubs like Manchester City, Chelsea and PSG are following up on his developments.

The front page of Italian newspaper, Tuttosport, has a sensational swap story involving Sanchez and Pjanic. The article suggests that Juventus want the Chilean to line up alongside Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain, and the club could use Pjanic as a makeweight to land the former Barcelona star.

Earlier this month, British media reported Arsenal’s interest in Pjanic. The Bosnia international joined Juventus from Roma in the summer for a fee of around £25m, and has quickly established himself as a key player for the Bianconeri. Wenger is keen to sign Pjanic and has personally contacted the player to facilitate a move to the Emirates.

Both Pjanic and Sanchez are an asset for their respective clubs. Arsenal are stocked with quality midfielders in the side, and although there is always a room for quality addition, Wenger would be wise to spend the money to bolster other areas of the pitch. Adding depth in central midfield is not his top priority at the moment.

Having said that, a potential swap deal cannot be ruled out. If Sanchez refuses to sign a new deal, Arsenal will be left with no other options than to sell. However, the Gunners will be reluctant to sell their prized asset to one of their direct rivals, no matter how much money is dangled at them. From that respect, it will be wise to sell him abroad. And it will be of great value if they can get a world class player like Pjanic as a part of the deal.
