Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has shed light on the type of players he is looking to bring to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window..

The Portuguese tactician replaced Louis van Gaal after the Red Devils allowed the Dutchman to leave the club in May. In his first press conference as United manager, he admitted that he is looking to bring in four specialists to the club.

United have already signed Eric Bailly from Villarreal and free agent Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Meanwhile, Henrikh Mkhitaryan is on his way to the Premier League after Borussia Dortmund confirmed they have accepted a fee with the English giants for the midfielder’s transfer.

Van Gaal preferred multi-functional players, who could play in various positions. However, the former Inter Milan and Real Madrid manager stressed that he is not keen on signing versatile players for United.

“We made a nucleus of four positions as priority to give a certain balance to the squad, and a push in terms of quality that I want,” Mourinho said, as quoted by Sky Sports.

“As you know, especially the ones with more vision, I am a manager that likes specialists, not multi-functional players.

“I am clear with my approach and model of player. I like one or two multi-functional players. You always need someone that can give you a hand.

“From these targets we have three, until we have the fourth we are working hard on that, with Mr Woodward and the owners. When we have them we will breathe, we will be stable, and the market will still be open.”

With United already completing two deals and edging closer towards signing their third player, Mourinho could turn his attention on the fourth priority signing of the transfer window. The former Chelsea boss has refused to give out names, but one player who has been linked with the 20-time English champions is Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba.

The France international left Old Trafford as a free agent and joined the Turin club in 2012. He is now one of the best midfielders in Europe, currently preparing for his national side’s Euro 2016 semifinal fixture against Germany.

According to Sky Sports, United are looking to bring Pogba back to the club in the current transfer window. However, a move to bring the Serie A star to England would see the Red Devils spend in excess of £80 million.
