Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is under tremendous pressure to after a dismal start to the season.
The Premier League champions have picked up eight points from eight league games and are close to the relegation zone.
After having walked the league last year nobody would have expected Chelsea to start they way they have. The Blues have been leaky at the back and looked bereft of ideas going forward.
At the launch of his new book in London, Jose Mourinho admitted that although he would love to finish his career at Chelsea, modern football will not allow it.
The growing impatience and challenge of delivering instant results has become a part and parcel of modern football and Jose believes it could be his undoing at Stamford Bridge again.
“If you ask me how many years I’m still going to coach, I’d risk 15 more,” he said to Evening Standard.
“I’m in the middle: I did 15, I have 15 more to do. I’ll finish at 67. Maybe later if I can.
“Can I stay 15 more years at Chelsea Football Club? I don’t think so.
“I don’t think modern football allows it any more, so normally I will not finish my career at Chelsea. I would like to, but I don’t think it’s possible.”
The Portuguese manager was sacked after winning two league titles back in 2007 and he returned to the London club in 2013. After having won another title with the Blues Mourinho finds himself in another rough patch now.
It will be interesting to see if Mourinho can turn it around. The Portuguese is a world class coach who has been let down by several under-performing players.
His past achievements and pedigree warrants patience and support atleast for this season. Furthermore, Chelsea are unlikely to attract a better manager than Mourinho in the middle of the season anyway.
