Its no news that Liverpool is preforming quite horrid at the moment, sitting in 7th place, 11 points behind Chelsea. With the combination of poor form and the plague of injuries that seem to be following the lads over at Anfield, we can only ask come January who will help aid these wounds.
Hernanes:
This 24 year old Brazilian native is the perfect item to fill the whole left by the exit of Xabi Alonso. His precession passing and ball control skills have led critics to go as far as calling him “The New Kaka”. Currently a member of Brazilian League Leaders Sao Paulo, Hernanes in the past has been linked to Italian giants AC Milan, but because of a poor financial state they were unable to capture this maestros signature. In my opinion this should be Benitez’s first choice, giving a Liverpools midfield a much need consistent boost.
Rafael Van der Vaart:
After a big summer of spending by Real Madrid, including fellow midfielders Xabi Alonso and Kaka, Van der Vaart has been left out in the cold by manager Pellegrini. Searching for first team football the Dutch man has decided to leave Real Madrid in January. Like Hernanes, Rafeal has great pace and creativity which would also aid in the midfield area. Though i would put Hernanes before him, because of funds this man would be a good by for the amount of money Rafa is aloud to spend this January.
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar
This dutch forward was a teammate of Van der Vaart’s the year before this past summer. With the likes of Benzema and Higuain on the roster at Madrid, Huntelaar was no longer needed and was sold to AC Milan for a fee of 13 million euros. Despite the move for first team action, it has been hard to come by for the 26 year old striker, as the young but sensational forward Pato has taken his spot.
Regardless the man has numbers that show he’s a threat up front. With 76 goals in 92 appearances for Ajax and 8 goals in 20 appearances for Real Madrid, its safe to say hes a killer when he get the chance. While he is not the most talented technical player he is nothing but deadly when he is in the penalty box, which can be compared to the likes of Ruud Van Nistelrooy. With no one really there to aid Torres up front this could be a steal signing for the Reds if they were to pursue.
Sergio Aguero:
We all know about the Argentinean Wonder-kid and what he is capable. With interest from clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United, AC Milan, and Manchester City its goes without saying everyone is aware of the tremendous amount of potential this Atletico Madrid striker has. While its safe to say its long odds for Liverpool to capture his signature, there is no problem with dreaming.
With combination of his speed, creativity, ability to keep calm, and deadly goal scoring ability he would be the perfect companion for Torres up front. He has the ability to make plays and gives teams facing Liverpool two big headaches to worry about when coming upon this strike force.
To wrap it up i say our best bet is to shoot for Hernanes, seeing we would get the most out of what we can pay for him. Though if a stake of Liverpool is sold to the Middle Eastern Oil Billionaire, the signing of Aguero will no longer be a dream for the fans of Liverpool.
